The Centerville Library: Stuck in Time

Have you ever been in a situation like this?

It’s inevitable.  At some point in our lifetimes, we’ve experienced a sticky situation where we were pretty sure we could wiggle our way out, but… well, the space was just a little too snug. Ever gotten your tongue stuck to a frozen pole? A ring on your finger? Head in a fence? I’m sure you had wonderful friends who were around and able to help out… that is, after they finished laughing. It happens…

Here at the Centerville Public Library, we’ve been in a somewhat different kind of stuck: time. It’s not really that we’ve been caught up in New Year’s celebrations, diets, or exercise routines, but we have snuggled ourselves very nicely into the month of January.  How did this happen, might you ask? Well, we decided to try out a series…and it worked!

Several months back, we ordered Gabrielle Lord’s Conspiracy 365: January, just to see how our patrons would respond to the series. After a while of monitoring its circulation pattern, we have received many requests for the rest of the series (that is, FebruaryDecember). Well folks, I’d just like to say that your voices have been heard; the rest of the year has finally arrived at the library!

In case you’ve never read the books, the following is a synopsis from the series website: “On New Year’s Eve, Cal is chased down the street by a staggering, sick man with a deadly warning… ‘They killed your father. They’ll kill you. You must survive the next 365 days!’ Hurled into a life on the run, with a price on his head, the 15-year-old fugitive is isolated and alone.  Hunted by the law and ruthless criminals, Cal must somehow uncover the truth about his father’s mysterious death and a history-changing secret.  Who can he turn to, who can he trust, when the whole world seems to want him dead? The clock is ticking. Any second could be his last.”

I’ve never read the series myself, but I’m officially on the edge of my seat! The books are appropriate for young adults and were originally published in 2010, with a new book coming out each month; now, you don’t have to wait – they’re all here! Click here to place any of the Conspiracy 365 books on hold, or drop in at the Centerville Public Library to check for availability.
