Hello everyone and welcome to the June edition of what’s happening at your library! June marks the beginning of the summer months, so the dates are jam-packed with fun for the whole family! Not sure which program is for you? Well, let’s talk about each one and you can decide what you like! Hold on tight – deep breath – here we go:
We’ll kick off the month with an exciting Zombies vs. Humans Lock-In on the 3rd for ages 13-17 @ 5:30 PM (If you’re not sure how it works, read one of our previous blog posts here). Are humans really strong enough to overcome zombies? Come and find out as we lock the teens in and let them battle it out though fun tag games! The 3rd is also the first day to turn in your reading logs for prizes – let the reading begin! On the 4th, we will hold our monthly bedtime stories for all ages @ 6:30 PM. Come ready to dance in your PJ’s! We will have special story and activity times on the 5th for lapsit-2nd grade, so get your little ones geared up to talk all about gardening! Mummies and ancient Egyptians will pay a visit to the library on the 6th @ 6 PM for ages 9-12 yrs. Let’s see who can “mummify” their teammates the fastest and win fun prizes!
Our first order of business this week will be fun storytimes & activities all about dirt and bubbles on the 12th! After that, we will have a special guest come and teach 9-12 year-olds all about Enviroscape on the 13th @ 6 PM. This program will include scale models of landscapes that are environmentally friendly. The activity will also require the use of water, so you may get a little wet. It is summertime, after all!!
We are inviting 13-17 year olds to come out on the 18th @ 6 PM and show us their creative talents using…. bleach pens? That’s right – bring those old t-shirts and turn them into new creations with the help of a little bleach. Bring your own design or free-hand a last-minute work of art. All you need to bring is a colored t-shirt & we’ll provide the rest of the fun! On the 19th, we will hold storytime & activities all about burrowing animals. We’ll talk about that just in time for… Ranger Jodie’s visit with live animals on the 20th @ 3 PM! Ms. Jodie will bring in her own furry friends and talk about each one. This will be a fun and exciting program for all ages!
For the last week of June, we have 2 very special programs for all ages. First, Ranger Jodie will return on the 25th and tell us all about Archaeology! Then on the 26th, we have a very special but familiar face returning to the library – David Stephens, puppeteer! If you remember, Mr. David visited each library last year and was a big hit. This year, he is returning with his puppets for a fun tale about Jack & the Beanstalk. Mr. David will present at the Centerville library @ 1:30 PM on the 26th. Check our website for shows at Nola Brantley and Perry libraries.
Whew – that’s quite a bit of activity! Let’s all exhale now… aaahhh, that’s better. Let us know which program you’d like you’re child to sign up for by calling us at (478)953-4500 X4. You may also visit our entire calendar of events here.
So tell us – do your kids have a summer reading goal this year?
