The Summer Reading Program Begins Tuesday!

Summer is finally here! Woohoo! Children everywhere are rejoicing and cheering, while parents are collectively moaning and groaning. This can be a stressful time for the adults as they try to figure out ways to keep their kids busy and amused. With a little bit of ingenuity, it can be done!

One way to achieve this is to visit your local library! The registration for the Vacation Summer Reading Program will begin at all three Houston County libraries (Perry, Centerville, and Nola Brantley) on May 28, 2013. Each branch is having a special opening bash for this joyous occasion. The Perry Library is celebrating this event by having a beach party with fun activities from 2-6pm. The Centerville Library is hosting games and activities from 2-4pm. And the Nola Brantley Memorial Library is welcoming readers by having sidewalk chalk, cotton candy or popcorn from 10am-2pm.

But if you can’t make this date, each library is hosting many fun programs throughout the summer to keep your kids entertained. We have posted the Summer Reading calendars for each library at or, just stop by your library and pick one up. We’d love to see you!
