What’s Happening in April at Centerville Library

Happy springtime, everyone! This month is jam-packed with fun educational activities for the whole family, so check this out:

April 1-6

Wahoo, its spring break! Because of the holiday, we will have no homeschool or storytime meetings on the 1st.  We will, however, be gearing up the next day for bedtime stories, which takes place on the 2nd at 6:30 PM. The stories are for all ages, and don’t forget to wear your PJ’s! Our storytimes on the 3rd will be about fire trucks, and that’s because (are you ready for this?)… the Centerville Fire Dept. is coming out on the 4th at 10:30 AM! The firemen will be showing us their special fireproof gear and all the parts of their truck. It’s going to be a great time for all ages!

April 8-13

imagesSchool is back in session, and so are our regular Monday activities – teen homeschool session at 2 PM and 3-6 grade homeschool along with our all-ages storytime at 3 PM on the 8th.  It’s also Moe’s week! That’s right folks, Moe’s of Warner Robins is giving back 10% of all their proceeds to the Houston County Libraries during the week of April 9-15! All you have to do is tell them you’re there to eat for the public library. You can even drop in to your library branch and pick up valuable kid’s coupons to help you save money! Also, our storytime theme for this week is HUGE dinosaurs, so you’ll definitely want to bring your little ones out on the 10th and 11th. We will also be holding an exciting Pop Culture Bingo Night full of fun about some of your favorite fiction works, such as Captain Underpants and Diary of a Wimpy Kid! The program will take place on April 11th @ 6 PM and is appropriate for 3-6 graders. Also, Lincoln the Lab from P.A.W.S will be here on the 12th from 3:45-5:45 PM! The program is for kids who can read independently, and advanced registration is required.

April 15-20

We will be holding our regular Monday activities on the 15th, and a special program on the 16th – Teen Book Bingo! It’s going to be great fun featuring some of your favoritetrivia-night1 authors, genres, and book titles. Program is appropriate for ages 11-17, and snacks will be provided.  This is also our last storytime week of dinos (can I hear a collective “aaawww”) and we will be learning all about flying reptiles.  Don’t forget about our adult computer classes on the 17th – Basic computers class from 10 AM-12 noon and Microsoft Word class from 2-4 PM. We will hold 2 additional classes on the 18th –How to build your resume from 10 AM-12 noon and learning Microsoft Excel from 2-4 PM. Last but not least, the 19th marks a basic computer class from 10 AM-12 noon and a basic internet skills class from 2-4 PM. Please drop by the Centerville Library and sign up for your preferred class(es) in advance. Kejdi of P.A.W.S will be wrapping up the week by coming out on Saturday the 20th from 12 noon-1 PM.  The program is for kids who can read independently, and advanced registration is required.

April 22-27

We will hold homeschool activities and our regular afternoon storytime on the 22nd. Our storytime theme and activity for this week will be circles.

April 29-May 2

Aside from our regular Monday activities on the 29th, our storytime theme and activity will be rectangles. Come out for a great time at the library!
