You are cordially invited to join Perry Public Library in honoring the women who make our community a better place to live.
On March 21st, 2013 Perry Public Library will host a Women’s Living History Reception. This special after hours reception will begin at 6:00 pm. We expect to hear from two speakers who will inspire us to serve one another and live our best lives.
Mrs. Alvalyn Pope will share the importance of service to our community. Mrs. Alvalyn Pope is a distinguished servant with many community support activities to her credit. Some of her current activities include serving as a member of the Mission Committee at Perry United Methodist Church. She has served as the Chairman of the Board of Directors for Perry Volunteer Outreach since it’s beginning. She serves as the liaison to Brian Bowen’s Snax Sax, a program providing food to elementary children over the weekend, as well as Loaves & Fishes, local food bank, for Perry United Methodist Church.
Lee Ford-Faherty, paralympic athlete, will deliver our keynote. Lee has been an amazing supporter of Perry Public Library. She has volunteered her time to instruct and inspire our youth to attain their dreams. She is a 2012 Paralympic Games athlete. She earned a Gold medal in Women’s Archery at the 2011 Parapan American Games in Guadalajara, Mexico. Lee has numerous other accomplishments to her credit. In addition to competing, Lee pays her time and talent forward through Team Ford Archery and public speaking engagements.
In addition to these informational speakers, we will feature the community nominees for our Women’s Wall of Distinction. Our Wall will highlight the contributions of local women here within our community. Their everyday lives and efforts are positively impacting their neighbors and organizations. Their example shows us that we can all make a difference, as every good deed makes our world a better place to live. Our Wall of Distinction is constructed of women that were nominated by individuals and organizations within the community.
Through the generous support of The Coffee Cup on Carroll in Perry, the evening will begin with light refreshments. Tickets are not required, though an rsvp would be appreciated for planning purposes. You may rsvp at Perry Public Library (478-987-3050 x21) or at our facebook page.
