Want to make sure you are in the know? Here’s how…

Would you like to make sure that you never miss another great event at the library? We have to admit there is a ton to keep up with between children, teens & adult programming!

Just during the month of July there were all of the summer reading programs for children at each of the libraries. The teens had options of Urban Legends at Centerville, Teen Trivia night at Nola Brantley or even a Dream Journal Reception with Parapan Gold Medalist Lee Ford at Perry Library. Adults had a whole slew of options as well! All three branches offered computer classes. Perry Library also offered book repurposing classes and yoga with Ms. Marie.

If you’re feeling a little bummed out about that, then don’t fret!!! You can always be in the know about library activities! You can even choose how you want to receive your information. Do you want it delivered to your inbox? Posted to your Facebook newsfeed? Or would you rather visit www.houpl.org at your leisure?

It’s as easy as ‘following’ this blog! When you click the ‘follow’ button to the right of the screen, you will register to receive the new blog posts to your email account.

The library offers many services and resources to educate or entertain in a variety of ways. Be one of the first to enjoy these items, by being one of the first to know about them. The blog introduces new products and services available through the library such as these new online resources. The blog also announces upcoming events like the Old Book Sale or programmingTips and tricks for research are also present for your information as well.

When Facebook went through their most recent set of changes, it placed a menu on the like button. If you hover your mouse over the ‘like’ button, a drop down will appear. A check mark needs to be present next to the ‘Show in newsfeed’ option. Now when we post to our Facebook page you’ll receive it straight to your newsfeed. This a great chance to see all of the library announcements and great events we have to offer.  Some of our more popular events require registration due to limited capacity. You can make sure you are on the list by claiming your spot early. The best part of having our events in your Facebook feed is the opportunity to one click RSVP to events.

Are you ready for one more reason to ‘like’ us on Facebook? Really, there’s one more great reason. When we hit 500 likes on Facebook, we will celebrate a “Fine Free Day for Houston County Library Patrons! Yes, that’s right! A whole fine free day.

If you prefer to go retrieve your own information instead of waiting for delivery, you can always find current information at our homepage: www.houpl.org If you visit the Programs/Events page you can view all activities at each of the library branches.

While you can’t RSVP for events on the website, visiting does offer the great opportunity to browse the many digital resources available to you with your library card.

We hope that this helps you to keep current on the many informational and entertaining activities that are available to you and your family within Houston County Public Library System. Our system is supported with your tax dollars. You’ve already paid for it, you might as well take advantage of it!
