The 2012 Old Book Sale is coming up!!
This year’s Houston County Friends of the Library sale will be May 3rd – 5th at the Georgia National Fairgrounds.
On the first day of the sale, Thursday, May 3rd, the hours will be 10am – 8pm. For this day only there is an admission fee of $5. Friends of the Library members are admitted free. Friday, May 4th admission is free and the hours are 9am – 8pm. Saturday, May 5th hours are 9am – 3pm, admission is still free and all items are half off!
Books available for sale are either retired library books or donations. Donations are collected at each Houston County Library Branch throughout the year. There’s still time to donate for this year’s sale, so don’t forget us while your spring cleaning! All of these books, about 90,000, provide a great deals and a great selection for browsing. So good in fact that word has gotten around. This sale is so big that people travel from as far as Florida to shop with us at Houston County’s FOL book sale! And we appreciate it!
As a reminder, last year’s sale resulted in $46,020 for Houston County Libraries. At a time that many libraries are ending subscriptions to newspapers and magazines to allow for purchasing any new materials, Houston County has been able to continue to supply our communities with current events, quality information and best sellers. This is in no small part to your donations, the Friends efforts and a great annual tradition!
If you would like to help the Friends with this massive undertaking, you may sign up at any of the library branches. Assistance is appreciated in setting up Wednesday, May 2nd and also with the cashiers throughout the duration of the sale.
