Social Media Announcements

Extra, extra, read all about it! This is a major Facebook announcement that you won’t want to miss!

Who wants a fine free day? You do, you say? Well, you’re in luck! The Houston  County Public Library wants to offer all its patrons the opportunity to rid themselves of those pesky library fines… and it’s easy! All you have to do is visit the Houston County Public Library Facebook page and click “like.”  Once we reach 500 Facebook likes, our library director will designate a day that our patrons can come in and have their fines removed from their account.* I’m thinking this could be a great way to give yourself some extra spending money for Christmas presents… so let’s start “liking!”

Have you ever wanted help finding articles for that research paper but didn’t have time to drive to the library for assistance? Well, we’ve got you covered! The Houston County Public Library System now offers a virtual reference happy hour through Twitter, which takes place every Monday and Wednesday from 3:30-4:30.  During this time, a librarian will be on  hand to help you find the answers to basic research and reference questions… and you can ask from anywhere! Just remember – Twitter has that annoying 140 character limit, so we are reserving this virtual time for those of you who require light research.  If you have more depth questions, please drop in for some face-to-face assistance.

To access our Twitter account, visit @Houpl.

*Only late fines totaling $15.00 or less per patron will be forgiven on the designated day. No damaged, lost, ILL fees, etc. will be forgiven.
