What’s Happening? December Events at the Nola Brantley Memorial Library

Happy holidays everyone! The beginning of a new month means the start of more fabulous and educational programs at the Nola Brantley Memorial Library. December is packed with great fun for the whole family, so check it out!

Below is a highlight of programs being held during the month of December at the Nola Brantley Memorial Library:

December 6: Aaaargh! Pirate Program

We are very excited to offer our first ever pirate program! Enjoy a “swashbuckling” good time led by the talented Mr. Dan the Pirate Man. Make sure to wear your best pirate costume and be prepared brush up on your buccaneer accent as we embark on a grand adventure about pirates! The program will take place from 4:30-5:30 PM and is appropriate for ages 4-11.

December 12: Adult Wii Night

Okay parents, we have been feeling a bit guilty for offering all these exciting game nights to your kids, so we have decided to make it up to you. December 12 is your opportunity to visit the library, cut loose, and bring out your inner child! Drop in anytime between 6 and 7:30 PM for this great program.  But we’re warning you – these games can be very exciting and fun, so you may have to add a Wii to your Christmas wish list afterward!

December 17: READing Paws

While we do understand that many of you are busy every weekend, we believe this program will be worth marking your calendars for! We are very excited to welcome READing Paws to our library on this day, from 12-2 pm. READing Paws encourages young children to read by providing willing and obedient listeners …who just happen to be dogs! A READing Paws Team is composed of a registered Therapy Animal and owner/handler and several cute and cuddly dogs who love  listening to stories. The program is appropriate for ages 5-18 and limited seats are available, so we encourage you to register your child as soon as possible.

December 20: Holiday Bash!

If you’re looking for something fun to do on Christmas week, we’ve got you covered! The Nola Brantley Memorial Library will be hosting a holiday bash on Tuesday, December 20th.  First, we will have a fun-packed afternoon for ages 5-9, which will include story time, games, food, and face painting from 4:30-5:30 PM.  Next, we will hold our monthly Wii game night for teens ages 10-17 from 6-7:30 PM, but this will be no ordinary gaming event.  Our face painters will stay for the first half of Wii night so our teens can take part.  We will also supply the usual food and drinks with the added addition of a Christmas favorite – hot chocolate! Be sure to mark your calendars because this is an event you won’t want to miss!

With the holiday season comes several dates that we want our patrons to remember.  All Houston County Public Libraries will be closed December 23-26 for the Christmas holiday. All libraries will also be closed on Monday, January 2 for the New Years holiday.

If you would like more information about any of these programs or desire to reserve your seat, please contact the Nola Brantley Memorial Library at (478)923-0128 or email
