How much fun can one library have? At Centerville Library, we have been having a ball! We have had firefighters come to read, a Teen Wii night, Pumpkin Decorating, and Percy Jackson and The Last Olympian Celebration.
When the Firefighters visited the library, a local Centerville fireman read a story to the toddlers. After storytime the firemen passed out firefighter hats and stickers to the children. The toddlers also got to tour the fire truck and one of the firemen explained the equipment that they have to use when going into a fire. Don’t forget to check out our story time hours here and you can also check out our calendar.
At our storytimes, the children decorated pumpkins for the fall season. Ms. Amanda read stories about pumpkins, sang songs, and for their craft, the children decorated pumpkins to take home. With our Home School Group, Ms. Frizzle dropped by to celebrate 25 years of Magic School Bus! Ms. Frizzle taught the class about Greek gods and goddess.
On Teen Nights, every 3rd Tuesday of the month at 6:00 pm, teens can come out and have fun and make new friends. This past Teen Night we had a Wii night. Teens had the opportunity to challenge each other to a bowling match or a dance off on the Nintendo Wii game system.
Love the Percy Jackson series? Like to dress up like one of your favorite Greek god or goddess? We had a celebration for Percy Jackson’s birthday and the release of the new book The Son of Neptune by Rick Riordan on Saturday, October 22nd.
At the celebration, we had a Greek god costume contest, where teen patrons could come dressed as their favorite Greek god. We also played games to see how well teens knew the Percy Jackson and the Olympians series. At the end of the celebration there was a prize drawing for the book, The Son of Neptune!
And to think all of these activities have been done in the month of October alone and we are gearing up for another fun-filled month in November. Make sure you watch out for more fun-filled activities!
