Service Highlight – Kits for Kids

Attention preschoolers and adults who love them,
Perry branch library can help you keep little hands and minds busy.  30 Kits for Kids offer themed activities for young children. Kits include any combination of books, videos, music CDs, activity sheets and props to foster learning and fun.  

Need help getting that reluctant preschooler to the dentist? Try Kit #24 Dental Health ~ Happy Teeth are Healthy Teeth. Students will learn the importance of good dental care and what happens at the dentist’s office.


This kit contains:
·        A Trip to the Dentist Can Be Fun video
·       Model teeth & toothbrush
·        5 books: Tooth Book by Dr. Seuss, Just Going to the Dentist by Mercer Mayer, Does a Lion Brush? By Fred Erlich, Brushing My Teeth by Elizabeth Vogel, The Tooth Fairy Tells All by Cynthia Copeland
·        Instructions and pattern for children to make their own tooth puppet

Build literacy skills with our Alphabet Kit ~ ABC for You which is pictured below.

 

This kit contains:
·       a two foot tall stuffed Chicka Chicka Boom Boom coconut tree and 26 felt letters
·       Chicka Chicka Boom Boom and Other Coconutty Songs music cd
·        3 books: Chicka Chicka Boom Boom by Bill Martin, Dog’s ABC: A Silly Story About the Alphabet by Emma Dodd & Dr. Suess’s ABC by Dr. Seuss
·        Bonus sheet with 2 additional songs and interactive ideas for making the activities come to life.

Other themes include the seasons, holidays, classic fairy tales,
science and many other traditional early childhood themes. Kits can be
checked out and returned to the circulation desk. 2 kits may be checked
out per library card at a time. Though these kits have been invaluable to
many preschool teachers in the area, you need not be a teacher to check
them out. Make lesson planning and learning time easy and enjoyable with
FREE library resources.
