We have many exciting, fun, and educational programs happening every month at the Nola Brantley Memorial Library! We either partner with local businesses and organizations to hold special events, or have library staff plan these functions to ensure the best patron experience possible. Below is a highlight of programs being held during the month of October at the Nola Brantley Memorial Library:
October 17th: Put a Stamp On It
Did you know that October is National Stamp Collecting Month? Andy Rodriguez, who is a member of the Middle Georgia Philatelic Society, will be visiting the Nola Brantley Memorial Library to educate elementary children on stamp history and design. He will be talking about different types of stamps ranging from sports to cartoon characters, and giving examples of each. This program is intended for children ages 6-13, but teens and adults are also welcome to attend.
October 25th: Wii night!
If you are between the ages of 10 and 17 and love video games, this is just the program for you! We will be gearing up for our monthly Wii game night on October 25th. The evening will feature tournaments or free play such as bowling, Super Smash Brothers, or Mariocart. We will also make available graphic novels and teen magazines for casual reading. Refreshments will be served, so come out and enjoy the fun! Sign-up is required.
October 27th: genealogy Lock-In
Since this month also recognizes family history, the Nola Brantley Memorial Library is holding a genealogy lock-in to celebrate. This will be an after-hours session that will feature members of the Central Georgia genealogical Society who will teach you the basics of online genealogy research. The program is for adults only and will be from 6-8 PM. Sign up is required.
November 1st: Day of the Dead
Looking ahead a bit, the Nola Brantley Memorial Library will have a Day of the Dead program that will feature scary (but not too scary) stories by a “campfire” in the Nola Brantley Memorial Library meeting room at 6:30 PM. These stories are for ages 7 and up.
If you would like to sign up for any of these programs or would like more information, please contact the Nola Brantley Memorial library at (478) 923-0128.
