Houston County Friends of the Library

Treasurer Sharon Sullivan presents a check to Karen Odom, Director of the Houston County Public Library System.

At the Houston County Public Library, we believe you can never have too many friends. And we want you to be our friend, too!

Join the Houston County Friends of the Library today!

The Houston County Friends of the Library is at the beginning of another great year. The Friends of the Library (FOL) is a local non-profit with the mission of supporting the local library system. Our FOL group does this in a number of ways:  library lobby sales, volunteer hours and most notably the Annual Old Book Sale each year at the GA National Fairgrounds. Proceeds from the 2011 sales resulted in over $46,000 divided amongst the three library branches. This generous donation is currently being used to purchase new materials for the collections and providing services such as Georgia Download Destination.

There are many ways that you can become involved in supporting your local library system through the Friends of the Library. Gently used books can be donated at any one of the Houston County Library branches. You can also attend the Old Book Sale this year May 3 – 5, 2012. Volunteer to work the Old Book Sale yourself.

If you’d like to increase your support of the libraries, become a friend! Membership applications are available at each of the library branches. Membership varies depending upon type: Individuals $5.00, and families $10.00 ($8 with Military I.D.). Additional membership options are available.

We invite you to join us at our next meeting, 6:30 on November 1st @ the Centerville Library or visit the meeting schedule to find another meeting.
